VERMONT OVERLAND BIRDWATCHING SAFARI is the epitome of the exploration aspect of Vermont Overland. Participants in VOBS use their well-appointed vehicles to venture out into the Vermont backcountry to view their favorite indigenous bird species. Along the way, they'll make stops at local pottery shops, country stores, nano-breweries and historic sites. Many love to find remote cemeteries and imagine how Vermont looked when horse and buggy meandered the ancient roads. Some just come to take in the amazing fall foliage and enjoy the localvore food trucks back at camp. Whatever the reason, VOBS has become a cult overlanding bucket list gathering and we like that just fine.

"The overall vibe of the ride and the event was hard to put into words. It somehow felt both welcoming and exclusive at the same time, was super challenging but also incredibly relaxed, and had the professionalism of a big event but somehow felt like I just stumbled upon a great group ride. I don't think you can plan any of those things, but is a direct result of the promoters, friends, and participants." MB, Tampa, FL

The Rift is an off-road bike race through the dark lava fields in the highlands of Iceland. It traverses the continental rift between North America and Eurasia - a rift that grow one inch every year. The growth is evident with vast lava fields all around creating a surreal landscape. A landscape that is remote, rugged and unpredictable.

The course starts out of a small town along the southern coast called Hvolsvöllur. This incredible shoreline stretches from the greater Reykjavík area in the west to the magnificent Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon in the east and is lined with countless natural wonders such as cascading waterfalls, volcanoes, black sand beaches and glaciers.

The route circumnavigates one of the most active volcanos on the island, Mt. Hekla.

The Maine Winter Romp is an informal annual gathering of Land Rover owners and enthusiasts hosted by Bruce Fowler. Set in and around Benton, Maine over Presidents' Weekend, Maine Winter Romp provides a non-competitive opportunity to test your Rover and driving skills in conditions that can be extreme.

The event has grown into one of the larger winter gatherings of Land-Rovers in the Northeast—maybe even the country. The event is generally non-damaging (though of course accidents can happen) and is open to drivers of all skill levels. (Novices will find supportive coaches in our midst—just ask.)

There is no charge for the event itself, but the group does meet and eat at various local establishments during the event. Winter Romp is not affiliated with any Land-Rover Club, but clubs are invited to participate.
