NYLRC & WCRC Campout

Pownal Vermont Oct 2-4 1998

This event was organized jointly by Nick Voulgaris from the New York Land Rover Club and Michael Ladden from the West Connecticut Rover Club. We had a special area reserved for us at Pine Hollow Campsite in Pownal, VT. I had to work on Friday, so I did not arrive until about 10:30pm, and there was already several Rovers who had arrived earlier in the day and set up camp. After sitting around the campfire for a while, we called it a night.

Saturday there was a total of 18 Rovers lined up for the trail. The trail was not too muddy, but there were quite a few rocks, and a couple of water crossings. We stopped for lunch at a very secluded lake, a very nice spot.

After lunch, we headed back out of the woods. When we reached the end of the trail it was still early, so George Saitainis (89 RR) and I (97 Disco) decided to check out another trail we had seen earlier. Three D90's came along with us as well. This trail turned out to be rather short, but it had a few interesting obstacles, and a creek crossing at the end. About 2 hours later, we joined the rest of the group back in camp, where we took a shower and headed in to town for dinner.

Most of the Rovers at the event were D90's, but there was also several nice Range Rovers, a few Disco's and Peter Cosmides's Series.
