EXPEDITION VIDEO

Vintage Rovers Across Africa | Trans-Africa Expedition 2001

The following video footage was filmed in the Spring of 2001.  A variety of cameras were used of varying quality. We are in the process of restoring more film and will post additional video when available.

Desert Crossing (Part I & II)

Crossing the Sahara Desert. A 250 mile journey at 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

In the Spring of 2001, DRIVE THE GLOBE | Overland Adventures completed Stage I of its Trans-Africa Expedition. This video features highlights of the Sahara crossing, made between Nouadhibou and Nouakchott Mauritania, a vast, desolate desert expanse where the only road is the wind swept sand dunes and hard rock strewn piste. This nearly 250 mile journey took three days and saw temperatures climb to over 110 degrees Fahrenheit. It was completed with four Land Rover expedition vehicles. Participants included Expedition Leaders, Michael Ladden and Paul Shumway, as well as Pat Macomber, Al Cornell, Jim Leach, Wilson Bullard, Shane Ballensky and Ed Messenger.

Stories From Africa

Unscripted Stories from our epic Tran-Africa Overland Expedition.

These videos were filmed on the 17th anniversary of Vintage Rovers Across Africa, during an impromptu road trip from New England to Chicago. Expedition leaders Michael Ladden & Paul Shumway recount a number of their favorite stories from traveling across Africa in their vintage Land Rover vehicles. Accompanying video was shot in 2001. Part One & Two.
